Biography – Randy Melle
Randy is your typical father. He has always worked a secure job where he was able to provide for his family. He loved his wife and his children. He knew all too well the pitfalls of life and did his best to help his kids through their own trials and tribulations, always hoping they’d make the right decision or learn from their mistakes.
Randy never thought he would lose his son Adam to addiction. He always saw Adam’s potential and firmly held to the belief that he would, one day, overcome his battle with opioids. Randy is just one of thousands of parents across the country who has lost a child to the opioid epidemic.
The heartache associated with the loss of a child is unfathomable. He experienced guilt, shame, rage and hopelessness. He felt frustrated and isolated as he dealt with speaking to others because of the stigma attached to opioid abuse. Randy went through grief counseling and learned to cope with his own loss by working with I AM, so he could help other addicts and their families with similar struggles.
